Tax Credit for Energy Efficient Replacement Windows
Renewal by Andersen® windows and patio doors help increase your home’s comfort and energy efficiency. Better yet, if you buy them now, you may qualify for a federal tax credit up to $1,500 on your federal income tax*.
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 ("the Act") provides federal tax credits for eligible building components that improve energy efficiency, this includes energy efficient replacement windows and doors. To meet the eligibility performance criteria under the Act, windows, doors and skylights must have both a U-Factor equal to or less than 0.30 and a Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) equal to or less than 0.30.
HOW TO QUALIFY FOR THE 2009/2010 ENERGY TAX CREDIT*
1. Purchase a qualifying Renewal by Andersen® window or Andersen® patio door with both a U-Factor and SHGC of 0.30 or lower. See Renewal by Andersen’s Manufacturer’s Certification Statement (see link below) for Renewal by Andersen windows and Andersen® patio doors that have NFRC certified U-Factor and SHGC values less than or equal to 0.30.
2. Save your sales receipt and the Manufacturer’s Certification Statement** for the applicable products with your tax documents.
3. Purchase and install qualifying products in your principal residence between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2010 and meet all other requirements outlined in the federal tax code.
4. Claim the tax credit associated with your qualifying purchase on your federal tax filing for the 2009 and/or 2010 tax year.

2009/2010 ENERGY TAX CREDIT DETAILS
• Tax credit applies to “qualified energy efficient improvements” which include exterior windows, doors and skylights for the taxpayer’s principal residence in the United States.
• Tax credit is for the cost of the product only and does not include installation costs. Be sure to ask for a sales receipt that shows the cost of the product only.
• Tax credit is 30% of the amount paid for the product up to a maximum of $1500 combined for 2009 and 2010 (Including other eligible items listed in the IRS Notice).
